This Lancashire boiler is a fine example of the boiler makers art, this type of boiler was patented by William Fairbairn in 1844, and continued to be manufactured through untill the 1960's.
This boiler appears to have been prepared for delivery,having been painted with a protective coating, the boiler mountings such as safety valves, stop valve, feed check valves, water level gauges etc, have been removed having been wrapped in cavass and packed in straw in stout wooden boxes for delivery to site.
