Pakamac

Hi Jane, Whats your favourite mac you wear when its raining and do you wear them when ever you can. I have a nice semi transparent slate grey one, its not a pakamac, however it looks like and feels like one.

Hi Elizabeth Anne thanks for your comments hope other ladies post some as well I know there is a drought in Australia but it did rain for the F1 race in the Albert park I have driven on part of the track I will let you in on a secret it does not have to rain to wear a mac.

Nothing to report here Gareth, it's been bone dry in Melbourne, months on end since I even had to pack a raincoat or umbrella 'just in case'.

Just watched the 70s film "That'll Be the Day" and I was surprised to see the few sequences of guys and girls in plastic macs and even some ladies in genuine nylon pakamacs. A wonderful era.

Hi Rob its good to hear your comments again I thought you and Beth had gone lets hear more from you both.

We seem to wear our Pakamacs more in the summer Agnes but then we do have a lot more days out and of course you always need to be prepared for rain in this country. You can probably guess why my wife started calling our holidays our brolliedays! I’m not sure I can add much more unless I say a bit more about some of the times we have really needed ours.

its always nice to hear from people with large collections of plastic macs. I have always been in a position not to have too many around the house at once as my wife thinks l am weird. nevertheless she tolerates some for which l am grateful. She has to be use to them by now l have had them since before getting married some 40 odd years ago. At any one time l usually have around thirty or so. I think over the years l have owned about every brand that has been made. Genuine Pakamacs are getting very thin on the ground now though. I am an expat Brit now living in New Zealand and over the years I have collected more than 300 plastic macs including a couple of 50's Pakamacs. They are still among my favourites.

Hi BJ. You should be so lucky to have continual good weather, So what chance do you get to wear your macs?. We have had rain every day now here at some point for the last five or six weeks. I have worn my plastic macs almost every day and strolled along the towpath of the canal. very relaxing and quiet. living in the countryside it seems more acceptable to still wear plastic macs Its a real shame they are out of fashion now. I have recently retired from my work and have more time now to enjoy my macs. I often wonder how many l have owned over the years but l know it must be at least three figures. l have quiet a few now. is there anyone out there with a substantial collection of plastic macs?

Rain? What's that? In our part of Oz it's been bone dry (and mainly stinking hot) since Christmas and rain's only been something that happens on the TV news.

Hi I met up with Jane and one of her friends in her group in Manchester we had a really nice few hours hope to go and see a show in London all of us I think my late husband Ron would have been happy I am with this group .

I met Susan, of 'Susan Rainwear' fame, a number of years ago but haven't heard anything for about the last 3 years. I don't know what happened either.

Hi Susan, I've checked out your site and I like it, especially the 'mocked up' magazine covers, but actually I was thinking of another Susan who I've heard nothing at all from or about for years on end, and I am a little concerned.

This one had the male identity David, was from northern England, played a lot of golf as I recall and he and his wife used to do a lot of photo sessions for the Yahoo rain bonnet groups. There is a flickr site 'Susan Rainwear' but it hasn't been updated for about 4 years. Has anybody heard anything since?

Hi Susan thats really sad news about Pamela a friend of hers in Scotland told she thought she had passed away the only real lady who loved plastic macs she said once she felt electric when she put a plastic mac on what a loss.

Not visited this site for a while so playing catch up. I read Frank Bannards comments about rainhats and umbrellas etc and agree with him, this site was intended for as the advert reads plastic pakamacs manufactured by servitor plastics. for the genuine plastic pakamac fan like myself there is absolutely nothing to come anywhere near the touch and feel of a genuine plastic pakamac or very similar.
The nearest l have got to matching them is obtained from pvc u like. l have worn them all my life up to now and intent to continue both indoors and out. l do have quite a substantial collection now but have to maintain a acceptable level to keep the peace with my wife who has no interest in them now. I do try and have at lease a couple of new ones every few months or so to replace ones that rip.

Ah Ken, it's a few years since I heard from Pamela. Sadly, I did hear too that she passed away, some time ago.

You should have come and said hello to me Ken. Were you wearing your pakamac? I'm sure I would have remembered or were you the guy I met in Elgin in 2008, who was wearing an old fashioned black plastic pakamac?

Hi Susan our history is myself and a friend met at university it started from there I can not tell the memories we have because I have to respect the privacy of others in the group I can tell one lady has contacted me and we are hope to meet next week and yes I have had some unwanted emails from men I thought I was unambiguous so any ladies wishing to join or more info please feel free to contact me we are all in our sixties and early seventies and not kinky just love plastic macs

Hi Susan did you used to be a friend of Pamela from the Highlands I saw you and someone else all three of you were wearing plastic macs in Wick what has happened to her she never leaves any comments these days.

Yes BJ, I used to contribute to yahoo groups but these days it's mostly to my flickr accounts or sometimes to my own mac related website. I'm pleased you remembered.
