I remember as a very young child in
the late 1950s, sitting on a Kilte seat, designed with wooden rabbits for the sides and a red seat, whilst my feet were measured.
In my late twenties the local shoe shop closed due to the retirement of the owner. He sold off all shop fittings and I bought the seat for nostalgia!
I’m now in my mid sixties and still have the seat. I’d love to learn more about it or if anyone else has one.
As a child my mother always bought me kiltie shoes thanks to my parents at the age of 65 I still have good feet.I wonder how many remember the birthday book from Uncle MacKiltie. ! still have one or two of mine.It certainly was a good way of advertising a top quality brand of footwear. I spent the first 12 years of my working life selling kiltie shoes from the same shop in town that my mother purchased from. Oh! Happy Days. GWEN BUTLER.
